What exactly does it take to be a member of the Mat-Su Orchestra?

Willingness to practice, perform, and play!

We do not audition adults or high school students, we are a community orchestra.  There are many different levels in the orchestra and we are always hoping talented musicians will lend their abilities to the orchestra.  We are grateful for all of our musicians and encourage those who join us to bring an affection for others, exuberance about life, a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion and conviction that all people have value.  We desire that this sentiment is not just in our heads and our hearts but in every detail of our lives, therefore we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse.

If you are interested in playing in the Mat-Su orchestra, please join us for rehearsals on most Tuesdays at 6:30 PM at the United Protestant Church in Palmer, Alaska. Contact matsuorchestra@gmail.com or leave a comment below for more information!

    • Good luck with the hip replacement. I do not think we will be able to do a full orchestra performance in the spring. We need to build our string sections and find other wind players to commit to being orchestra players. We are working on our list! I’ll stay in touch.
      Thanks,
      Kate

  2. Hello I presently work/live in Dillingham and miss playing cello in a community orchestra. I plan to move to the MatSu area next year, and look forward to joining at that time. In the meantime, I would love to be added to your email list.

  3. Am very interested to participate with your orchestra.
I am a cellist with ACO.
The ACO is currently unable to continue at this time.
    Are you practicing?
What types of music are you rehearsing?
    Thank you,
    Michelle
