katesbioKate Patterson was born and raised in Illinois. She has been active in the study or leading of music for as long as she can remember.  She attended Augusta College in Augusta, GA where she earned a Bachelors in Music Education.  She also holds a Masters Degree in Education from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, with an emphasis on integrating the arts into curriculum and instruction.  Her major instrument was voice and she also enjoys playing trombone.  She has lived in Alaska since 1992 and is a firm believer in community music.  Having been active in leading Church music since the age of 15 and participating in many community groups over the years, she believes there should be a place for persons of varying abilities to be able to express themselves musically.

She is a retired Elementary  School Music teacher having taught 20 years in the Mat-Su Borough School District.  She is the current owner/instructor of Li’l Bitty Ditties, a local business offering family music classes for children 0-5 years of age.
